Killarney Rugby Club aims to apply five core values of rugby in every aspect of the club:
Respect, Inclusivity, Integrity, Fun and Excellence.

If you, as a player, volunteer, member, or friend of the club witness behaviour that goes against the spirit of this charter please call it out! Rugby is about teamwork and being brave both on and off the pitch!

Respect for

Players: Regardless of ability, everyone should be treated with the same respect.

The opposition: We may be extremely competitive on the pitch but never forget it is a game.

The referee: On the pitch, only the Captain should talk to referees. If spectators feel they can do a better job please volunteer to become a referee. If not, comments should be limited to supporting your team.

Volunteers: Volunteers give of their free time to help other club members. Every hour they give should be honoured. Remember that volunteers are not paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless. If other people are depending on you let them know as soon as possible if you can’t do something. This avoids unnecessary frustration and people having to waste time following up.

Inclusivity

Killarney Rugby is a club for everyone. The club’s goal is to field boys and girls and men and women’s teams at all levels and age groups. We are actively working towards this.

Integrity

We strive to put integrity at the heart of everything we do. We aim to provide the best environment for our players, coaches, volunteers, and members. The best interests of rugby and players must be put first. This means fostering a spirit of fair play and sportsmanship and eliminating foul play and anti-social behaviour at every opportunity. Rugby should be a healthy and safe pastime for everybody.

Fun

All players of all ages should have a great experience at the club. Training should be exciting, challenging, and fulfilling. We also want our coaches to get fun, fulfilment and a challenge from working with their players. Volunteers and supporters should get enjoyment from their involvement in and commitment to the club. Match and competition success should be a consequence rather than an objective.

Excellence

The club is continually trying to improve on and off the pitch. The goal should be evolution rather than revolution. In the words of Word Cup winning coach Clive Woodward, it is about 'doing 100 things 1% better'. This mentality should apply to everything we do.

If you feel we can improve in some way or you would like to contribute please contact Tom O’Leary, Volunteer Coordinator, or any committee member.
