Killarney RFC U11s and U12s wrapped up their season with a trip to Old Crescent for the Limerick Rugby Fest.

U11s had previously gone up to Limerick two weeks previously - this time they were accompanied by their older club colleagues.

Leaving Aghadoe at 8.30 we arrived at Old Crescent at 10.15 - with enough time to find to our bearings and run a few drills before a prompt start at 11am.

The U11s opened their campaign with against the hosts Old Crescent. A close fought game went the way of Old Crescent by the odd score in 7.

A longish wait then ensued before we took on Naas. In retrospect, they were probably the best team we encountered. We competed well but lost out by 5 tries to 1. Lunchtime then followed with a chance to refuel and rethink our approach.

After the break we began again with a match against Clontarf. Conceding the first score - we took control to lead twice but in the end had to settle for a draw - three tries each.

The game structure - no scrums or lineouts - meant that each 12 minute game was continuous action and our limited numbers meant that everyone played every moment of each game.

Encouraged by the draw - we took on a second Clontarf team and had the satisfaction of winning 3 tries to 2. In our fifth and last game - against Monivea - we emerged victorious by 4 tries to nil, giving us a 50 percent record overall and an unbeaten post-lunch session.

Away from the pitch, we met up with Munster legend Alan Quinlan

U11s were: Shane Morrissey, Paddy Morris, Cathal Sugrue, Jack Gabbett, Arthur Gabbett, Eivind Dreier-Caulfield, Ryan O'Doherty, Ciarán Doody, Mark Brosnan.

U12s were: Gearóid O'Connor, Senan Cotter, Jake Leahy, Bryan Walsh, Alex Sheahan, Ben O'Brien, Pierce Leslie, David Butler, Sean O'Leary, Aidan Ring.
