U14 West Munster League - Killarney Black vs Killarney Red

Saturday was a big day from the club as our two U14 teams faced off in Aghadoe - demonstrating our strength in numbers at this age group.

Black started brightly and pressure on Red defence soon earned a kickable penalty. Cian Stack converted to give Black an early 3 point lead. Red took a while to get into the game but soon struck back with a try by Bryan O'Connor who showed great speed to score in the corner. Red doubled their lead to go into the break 10-3 ahead.

In the second half, Red added two further tries by Bryan O'Connor from a cross-field kick by Cathal Sugrue, and by Robbie Casey. Solid defence by Red stopped Black from adding to their total. Late in the 2nd half, an intercept try by Red out half Cathal Sugrue finished the game as a contest. Black did have the last word as Liam McCarthy crossed and Cian Stack converted to leave the final score at 25-10.

On a day that was celebratory for the club, an injury to Donncha Murphy in making a tackle early in the game cast a cloud over proceedings. We wish Donncha a speedy recovery from his broken collarbone.
