U14 West Munster Cup - Conference B Killarney RFC Black 15 Abbeyfeale 34
Despite reduced numbers our Black team put in a stirring performance in their opening game of the West Munster Cup. From the kickoff, Liam McCarthy broke the Abbeyfeale defensive line and although stopped short of the tryline by a good cover tackle, he was able to offload to Mikey Moroney who crossed the line to opening the scoring. Abbeyfeale struck back quick with 3 tries - one of which was improved by an excellent conversion. However, Killarney were able to reduce the deficit with a good score from Ronan Coffey.
With the half time score at Abbeyfeale 17 Killarney 10, we were looking to get an early score to put pressure on the visitors. Unfortunately for us, it was Abbeyfeale who stretched their lead with 2 further tries. Despite tiring due to short numbers and lack of subs, the Black team were still able to add to their tally with a third try. Abbeyfeale added a final try to bring the score to 34-15. Killarney strove to get another score and it was while attacking the Abbeyfeale line that Luke O'Malley unfortunately sustained a broken wrist - this was an unfortunate end to an exciting match.
We wish Luke a speedy recovery. Thanks again to Abbeyfeale for good contest on their 3rd visit to Aghadoe this season.
