Killarney RFC 10 Listowel RFC 0
With a number of players on the Black team unavailable for the U14 West Munster Cup game, we agreed to concede the fixture but play a friendly and bolster the Black panel with players from our Red team.

Killarney played the first half with the aid of a strong breeze, but managed only a single score. Having forced Listowel to carry the ball over their own tryline, we forced them to ground the ball to earn a five metre scrum. Liam McCarthy scored from a smart scrum move, taking the ball to the blindside as the half-backs ran a dummy line to the openside.

Listowel had a lucky escape when Cathal Sugrue appeared to have scored in the right corner. Unfortunately, for Cathal neither the referee nor the touch judge had the benefit of slow motion replay nor the assistance of a TMO in deciding if the ball was grounded before Cathal was tackled into touch-in-goal.
Behind 5-0 at halftime, Listowel looked sure to score early in the second half, but a last-gasp double tackle by Arthur Gabbett and
Donncha Murphy lodged the ball from the grasp of Listowel's no8 as he crossed the Killarney line.
Cathal Sugrue made amends in the 2nd half after a fine line break from Liam McCarthy. Cathal found the gap in the scramble defence and was able to reach the line despite the attentions of the Listowel defenders.
Both teams threatened further scores but neither was able to change the scoreline.
