Pitch fees

From start of September, the club will be charging โ‚ฌ2 per player for training sessions. This is in line with practice at other sports clubs locally and this money is designed to ensure that we can maintain our pitches in top condition.

An acknowledgement of the quality of our facilities can be seen in that this year - in April - the IRFU and Munster Branch designated us as hosts for the junior interprovincial between Munster and Connacht. We also hosted a Munster training session in Sept 2019.

We have good pitches and we want to keep them that way. Unfortunately, that costs a considerable amount every year in terms of buying fertiliser, seed and sand, and paying for improvements to drainage and other maintenance works.

Last season, as well as the senior men's team and over 100 minis, we fielded 3 girls teams (U14, U16, U18) and 4 boys teams (U14 x 2, U16, U18) in competitions. This is of course brilliant for the club - but increases the wear and tear on our pitches, and increases the risk that we have to cancel trainings or move trainings to other facilities in order to spare the pitches for competitive games.

It's not an easy decision to ask for additional funds but we hope a lot of small sums will allow us to keep our pitches in the condition that our players - of all ages - deserve.

We appreciate everyone's support and understanding that our aim is to give our players at Killarney RFC pitches that assist their development as players.
